May 6

May 6 –

Greetings from Venice, day #2.  To begin the day, I had to work embarkation.  Basically welcoming our guests on board.  This was from 12:30-2:30.  After that, Yanna (Russian dancer) and I headed out a walked most of the city.  Some not on purpose as we got turned around a bit.  No worries.  Our goal was to make it to market square and we accomplished it.  It was so gorgeous and we walked through the chapel and words really can not describe how beautiful this sacred place was (is).   I could have spent hours there just admiring the detail, but there just isn’t enough time.  A catholic service was happening in Italian – again pretty cool!  The Pope would have been there tomorrow.

Yanna and I were to meet some other folks as we had planned a Gondola ride, but the other folks wanted to go to Market Square and Yanna and I couldn’t make the trek again.  Our feet were on fire!  So we decided to find a little café on the main river and sat there until the sun went behind the buildings.

What a unique city – they say its sinking.  From a distance, you can see how much the buildings are leaning.  It’s really remarkable.  All stone and marble.

The rest of the day was rather laid back on the ship and I had to dj that evening.  The rest of the team was supposed to be there, but the ACD decided to give them the night off.  He neglected to tell me, so it was rather odd that they didn’t show up and I was announcing that they would.  No worries and I had fun.  Met two young ladies who live in Nashville – small world!
